We all wish we could buy time—what if we told you that you could?
Take part in mothers2mothers’ (m2m) 1,000 Minutes for Mentor Mothers challenge and your time will make a huge impact by helping create health, hope, and an HIV-free future for over one million women, children, adolescents, and families across 10 African nations.
Why? Because it only takes a matter of minutes to change someone’s life.
Through m2m’s epic 1,000 minutes challenge, you can make your time count by donating your minutes and fundraising for m2m’s Mentor Mothers—the almost 1,900 amazing women living with HIV employed as frontline health workers across sub-Saharan Africa.
How it works
Over 30 days you will be committing to 1,000 minutes of a physical challenge, whether that be running, cycling, rowing, or something else altogether—that’s only 34 minutes a day! Most importantly, you will be fundraising for m2m Mentor Mothers as you inspire your supporters to give in aid of your challenge. Take on this challenge as an individual or as a team, together with your colleagues, friends, or family!
Whether you donate 34 minutes for each of the 30 days, or take on one mammoth challenge, your time and donations will bring m2m one step closer to our vision of health, hope, and an HIV-free generation.

How your 1,000 minutes will make a difference
1,000 minutes for 1,000 days
The first 1,000 days of a child’s life, from conception to their second birthday, are a unique period of opportunity when the foundations for optimum health and development across a lifetime are established1. With the right services, education, and support, those 1,000 days can set a child up to thrive, not just survive.
m2m Mentor Mothers spend countless hours working to transform the lives of their youngest clients and give them the best possible start in life. From providing early childhood development support and education for caregivers and families, to giving tailored support for children living with or exposed to HIV and their families—Mentor Mothers are ensuring those first 1,000 days of a child’s life are used to build the foundations of life-long health, and a future full of possibilities.
Meet Ana and Isáliah
Ana was born with HIV, and has spent most of her life struggling to accept her status and stay on the treatment she needs. But her life changed in 2020, when she was pregnant with her first child, Nathaniel, and she was introduced to Isáliah, a Mentor Mother working for m2m at a local clinic. Isáliah learned that a recent test showed that Ana had very high levels of infection in her body, putting her health at risk, and increasing the chances she would pass on the virus to her unborn baby. Isáliah sprang into action. By sharing her own journey, she helped Ana come to terms with her status and restart her treatment. She explained how to ensure Nathaniel could be born HIV-free. And he was!
Today, Isáliah continues to spend her time working with Ana and Nathaniel, ensuring he stays HIV-free and reaches all his developmental milestones.
Your minutes can change lives too. By donating 1,000 minutes over 30 days, you could help ensure a child, like Nathaniel, has the health and educational support they need to set them up for a healthy life.
In 2020, 94.5% of children ages 0-9 months
in m2m’s integrated early childhood development programme
achieved all of their developmental milestones by 9 months of age2.
Now is your chance to be a part of this impact!
